Ballyhoo: The April Update.

a man wearing a hat

Happy April Fool’s Day!  Or, to some people, National “Don’t Believe News on the Internet” day.  But this is legit, we had circled this day a while back to start communicating with you – for reasons that will become obvious as we march forward in 2019.

You’re getting this because you signed up on our lukibrew.com website.   Thanks!  It pains us that we can’t make big announcements yet, but a few tidbits are ok:

  • We have a location.  Well, almost.  I don’t want to talk too much about it, since I am THAT superstitious, but we are extremely close in negotiations.  It could be finalized as soon as this week.  That said, until I have keys in my hand, nothing is official.

  • We’ve selected an architect, one with a good portfolio of breweries.  We’ll be their 8th or 9th brewery, and the experience they bring is already getting us a step ahead.  I trust they’ll create a unique space for LUKI.

  • We also started talking with graphic designers, who are helping us with branding.  As much as I like our logo (our daughter designed it), we have a very specific theme in mind which needs to be pulled through everything including merch, label design, website, taproom interiors, etc.  It’s unique, and we hope it resonates with everyone who visits.  So, the logo above is about to be very short lived.  Hey, it served its purpose on the business plan.

  • We’re headed to the Craft Brewers Conference next week.  Besides craft beer, I’m sure it will double as a beard convention.  If we’re lucky enough to have an agreement in principal with our future landlord, we will pull the trigger on major pieces of equipment purchases.  For you beer nerds out there, we’re going with a 7BBL 2-vessel brewhouse with one 15BBL fermenter and four 7BBL fermenters.  Let the wild rumpus of spending cash begin!

April is going to be a huge month for us.  I’ll be sending another update on May 1st.  Meanwhile, follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.  Soon on Snapchat as well.  You’ll still be the first to get progress news, but we’re planning some fun stuff on social media that will start in the next 30 days.

And no, I’m not going to guess when we could be open.  But if this all goes well… “Soon”.

Prost,
Jeff
